Fire Department

The members of the Mayer Volunteer Fire Department put in many hours of training and drill in their effort to serve you, the citizens of Mayer. 

They are on-call around the clock, 365 days a year and are to be applauded for their dedication and service to the City of Mayer and its residents.

 

Volunteer Firefighters 
The Mayer Fire & Rescue Department has immediate openings for Volunteer Firefighters.
 
Volunteer firefighters are compensated for training, duties, standing watch, and special events.
 
The purpose of this position is to minimize loss of life and property in the City of Mayer, parts of Camden, Hollywood, Watertown, and Waconia Townships from fires, natural disasters, life-threatening situations and to assist other emergency agencies.
The Mayer Fire & Rescue Department also provides public fire safety education.
 
This position is responsible for responding to fire calls, extinguishing and controlling fires as a member of a team under the supervision of a fire officer, responding to medical emergency calls and performing rescue and first aid as needed. The applicant will also maintain fire apparatuses, equipment and facilities; attend regular meetings and assigned training sessions to maintain and upgrade firefighter skills.
 
Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent, must be 18 years of age or over, possess valid Minnesota Driver's License and live within the Mayer Fire & Rescue District.
 
The Mayer Fire Department also supports the "Explorer's " which is open to youth ages 14 - 20.  They learn the basics and other "Explorer" competitions.  Contact the Mayer Fire Department for more information.
